The rewrite rules only work on the user part, so crafting something like
this...

> Match pattern =  ^([1-9][0-9]+)$
> Replacement pattern = \1 at asterisk.mydomain.com

... will result into sip:xxxx at asterisk.mydomain.com@original.domain.com,
which in turn causes the error you encountered.

This is, unfortunately, not possible out of the box. You could hardcode
it though in route[ROUTE_FIND_CALLEE] in
/etc/ngcp-config/templates/etc/kamailio/proxy.cfg, then execute "ngcpcfg
apply" to regenerate the config files.

We'll consider this for a future release since it sounds like a useful
feature.
