Dear David,

Can you please specify what exactly has not been started:
  - Linux kernel
  - Networking (can you ping your VM?)
  - SSH        (can you login to your VM via SSH?)
  - WEB access (can you open Admin/subscriber WEB interfaces?)

Maybe VM IP has been changed (if it receives it from DHCP).

At the moment it is hard to guest what has happened.
