Classical first steps for HA are setting up mysql replication between
two servers and do IP fail-over using heartbeat. That should be rather
straight forward.
There are potential issues during fail-over though, because sems running
as B2BUA has all the call states in memory, and on fail-over you're
going to lose them. As a consequence, any in-dialog messages of active
dialots (re-invites, byes etc) are not going to get through end-to-end
anymore, which might (potentially) cause billing issues where you might
see call start records without stop records, and the active call
counters might get screwed up. We overcome this issue in the PRO by
having a state replication module in sems for active/standby handling.
The same applies to rtpengine, where on IP fail-over you'll immediately
drop all media for all running calls if media goes through the platform,
where in the PRO we do state replication also to immediately
re-establish any active media streams.
