Dear Sebastian,

No, the option is NOT obsolete.

The problem here, the option 'external_sbc' was
never properly added to config.yml (while it is referenced a lot
into NGCP documentation). As a result it is missing into validation
schema. The internal ticket has been created TT#20320 and will be
hotfixes soonish.
