I don't think this is a safe thing to do in general, as you are taking
an address from the dynamically allocated block from the DHCP server.
Usually the DHCP server would have blocks reserved for statically
allocated addresses which you can freely and safely use.

I don't understand this point, as ifupdown in Debian trixie still
passes -I to dhclient, as seen at:

  https://sources.debian.org/src/ifupdown/0.8.44/inet.defn#L100
  (And all other instances in that file.)

And dhclient in Debian trixie still supports the -I option:

  https://sources.debian.org/src/isc-dhcp/4.4.3-P1-8/client/dhclient.c#L562
