My Mikrotik router was indeed mangling the packets. Once the change was done
the contact now comes with the private lan and the NAT detection works.

The ICE option is mutually exclusive with the "Use local address". It seems
ICE which
is the default also mangles with the contact ip address. I used the "Local
address" and it worked.
