Has the purpose changed over the last 16 years?

I think Sipwise has grown and has been able to invest in both open source and
comercial when the CE had LTS support. I know because I was there when Sipwise
was a 6 people company: The 3 founders + Mika + Richard and me.
I haven't seen Sipwise having issues because offering LTS to CE customers was
hurting the growth.
I never heard that CE version wasn't suitable for "business-critical or
production environments that, require long-term stability, predictable
maintenance windows, security updates". The only difference between CE and Pro
was Sipwise support could only be purchased for Pro products and some modules
as well. And it was a good model.
I think greed is the change here. Not the capability of Sipwise of investing in
development because the CE version has LTS support.

I was there when CE was created. I was there when the first Pro 2.0 was
installed.
I never told anyone that CE wasn't "production ready". The opposite, I told
everyone that version CE was awesome and rock solid.
I understand that Sipwise wants to sell the Pro product. But online support and
extra features and addons were the path to that. Making CE unusable for
production I think it's a bad policy, a bad decision and a mistake.
I'd ask you to reconsider it and offer a LTS version. You don't need to offer
all versions as LTS but always have one at least.
cheers,
Jon
