ok gentlemen - here is the solution (can't have trailing "." end of
hostname)

STEP-1
cp /etc/ngcp-config/templates/etc/hosts.tt2
/etc/ngcp-config/templates/etc/hosts.customtt.tt2

edit this:
"127.0.0.2 ${hostname}. ${hostname}\n";
to
"127.0.0.2 ${hostname} ${hostname}\n";

ngcpcfg apply 'fix hostname'

STEP-2

cp /etc/ngcp-config/templates/etc/exim4/update-exim4.conf.conf.tt2
/etc/ngcp-config/templates/etc/exim4/update-exim4.conf.conf.customtt.tt2

change the following
dc_eximconfig_configtype='[% email.smarthost.hostname == '' ? 'local' :
'satellite' %]'
to
dc_eximconfig_configtype='internet'

also change:
dc_other_hostnames='[% hostnames.join(';') %]'
to
dc_other_hostnames='put.the.full.domain.name.of.your.server.com'

you should have email working

NOTE: if its a read only file, just force the write
